Community Service Opportunity: Galilee’s Penny Store is a community event designed to help kids, who otherwise might not be able to buy a gift, buy Christmas presents for their families. The Penny Store runs for three days: Wednesday December 4, 12-3pm, and Saturdays the 7th and 14th from 10am-2pm. Volunteers arrive 30 minutes before they open to help get final setup complete and be familiar with wrapping materials, layout, etc. Volunteers fill a number of roles such as greeting “shoppers” and explaining how the store works, helping restock tables, explaining items and helping kids decide on gifts, and gift wrapping. The greatest need for help is for volunteers willing to wrap gifts. Lunch and snacks are provided for volunteers, and breaks can be taken as needed. Total volunteer time is 4 1/2 hours.
