The Worthington Scholarship application is open! The Worthington Scholarship Foundation has a goal to award over 1,000 scholarships this year; their only challenge is getting enough students who meet their criteria to apply! Applications are due by April 15th. To be eligible to apply for a Worthington scholarship, you must be a Maine resident and a graduating senior at one of their participating high schools (Gorham is one!) with plans to enroll full-time at one of their partner colleges or universities in the fall after your high school graduation. Scholarship Opportunity for Students from Maine Entering College in 2025-26 - Barowsky Scholars is delighted to announce a merit based scholarship opportunity for students in Maine! They are seeking students who have demonstrated academic excellence and are planning to attend competitive four year colleges as freshmen in the fall of 2025. This scholarship seeks to support students who are interested in honing their careful listening, civic discourse, facilitation and negotiation skills to become leaders that build trust and find common ground across people and groups with differing views and experiences. It is funded by Andrew P. Barowsky Charitable Foundation and administered by The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI). It provides a four-year renewable scholarship of up to $25,000 based on financial need. Many students are deserving of this type of support during college, but this program seeks to support and encourage students who meet the following eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen and current resident of Maine. High school senior or recent high school graduate enrolling as a first-year student in a competitive four-year degree program, at an accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university in the U.S. full-time in 2025-2026. Strong academic record in high school. Motivated to excel in college and make a difference in their community, and in society overall. Student demonstrates a commitment to reasoned, rational thinking, an ability to collaborate and work across difference, and a desire to deploy those skills in furtherance of civic engagement. Involved in a balance of community, school, and work activities. Must complete one Economics course and two of any of the following courses prior to completing college: Accounting, Finance, History or Psychology. Student must be planning to live on campus (e.g. in university organized housing or student-group organized housing) and to attend classes in-person to receive and to renew the scholarship. Key Club will be selling winter grams during outside of the Cafeteria during lunches this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to raise money for Erika's Lighthouse. Erika's Lighthouse is a non-profit organization that helps with stigma around mental health. The winter grams will contain Hot Cocoa, Candy Canes, and Hershey Kisses. They will be delivered next week during advisory!

21st Century Skills is organizing an animal food drive for the Animal Shelter. We are asking for donations of cat litter, canned cat food, dry cat food, canned dog food, dry dog food. And, all of the animals would love toys. The food drive starts today, December 12th and goes until Thursday, December 19th. Donation boxes will be located outside of the cafeteria, outside of Mrs, Ramonas’s room B106, both lobbies near the doors, and upstairs by the elevator. We are doing this to help our local animals and shelters in need.
